To qualify as a small estate in New Jersey, the estate in question must be valued at less than $20,000 for surviving heirs and $50,000 for the spouse. How to Write a New Jersey Small Estate Affidavit Form
First of all, fill in the decedent’s name at the top of the form. Enter the affiant’s name and address in the first two sections of the form. Next, write the affiant’s relationship to the decedent and the name of the decedent and the date the decedent passed away in the space provided.
Then, enter the name, relationship and address of all the heirs to the estate. Attach a list of the property to be collected and total the value of the property at the bottom. Include a certified copy of the death certificate to the affidavit. And, make sure to use a New Jersey small estate affidavit only if the decedent has passed away intestate, or without a will.
